What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is an ancient Japanese healing technique. This healing modality is safe, natural and gentle. Reiki energy releases energetic blockages in the body’s meridians and restores energy to areas that are depleted. It’s an effective way of assisting with a variety of ailments. It is particularly helpful for assisting the body’s natural healing abilities, reducing pain and stress, increasing vitality, inducing relaxation and generally giving one a sense of balance. Reiki is safe to use in conjunction with and compliments other medical treatments, healing methods and therapies, such as acupuncture, chiropractic and physiotherapy.

How does Reiki work:

In a Reiki healing session, Ki (Chi) universal life force energy is activated through the practitioner’s hands to the client, who lays fully clothed on a massage table. The client’s body then draws off the amount of energy that is required. This energy is self-dispersing, flows naturally where it is needed, and assists in re-balancing the body’s own energy. Reiki doesn’t just treat the symptoms but goes to the root of the problem.

What to expect after a Reiki session:

Over the next few days, you may notice that you are de-toxifying the waste that has built up in your system. You may use the washroom more. It is advisable to increase your water intake so that the toxins are flushed out more readily. Allow yourself more time to rest, if needed. Most people feel an immediate improvement in their level of pain or quality of sleep. Energy and alertness increase daily and a feeling of overall well being may be noticed.
